Automatic 4-row cabbage plant transplanter
Wednesday 5 July 2017 at 3.30 pm in Langemark (Belgium)

The trend of automation is moving rapidly in every sector, including in the agriculture and certainly in the intensive vegetable cultivation where finding workforce is becoming increasingly difficult during peak times. That is why the West Flanders SME Agriplant developed an automatic cabbage plant transplanter that started in Flanders this year.
Agriplant started 10-15 years ago with the development of 1-, 2- and 3-row machines for the foreign market (Spain, Portugal, etc.) where the areas were already large enough to make this machine profitable. Anno 2017, the scale increase in Flanders makes this also economically feasible. Specific to the Flemish vegetable cultivation is the smaller plant spacing between the rows (up to 50 cm). Combined with a desired working width which must be at least the width of the tractor, this resulted in the need for the development of a 4-stroke machine with a major challenge, the compact configuration of the 4 robots.
There is only the need for one workforce on the machine to put the full and empty trays on and off.

You are welcome to attend this (press) presentation. You can ask the SME manager and view the machine - see attached photo.
